The Balance of Cholesterol, Essential to the WelfareConsidering that cholesterol is the main sterol in the human body and also the precursor of all other steroid body, besides that forms cell membranes, lipoproteins, bile acids and steroid hormones, it is one of the elements that strongly influence our welfare.

Even though the body also produces cholesterol, most of it comes from the foods we eat. Those who have more of it are those of animal origin such as egg yolks, meat, dairy products and butter.

However, consumption in excess of cholesterol can cause heart problems in the future, and at such times it becomes necessary to make a change of habits. In general, though not decisive, being overweight is a clear indication about the amount of cholesterol a person has.

To reduce it, the diet should include fruits, vegetables, grains and fish in abundance, as these promote heart health. Also, avoid saturated fats and consume no more than 200 mg of cholesterol per day. Even exercise can also help in these cases.
